Acupuncturist located in Royal Oak, MI

About Hood

My name is Wallace Hood and I am a licensed acupuncturist in Texas and registered in Michigan. I am nationally board certified with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.  I am also certified in the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) protocol, a technique that helps patients move beyond addiction, disasters and emotional trauma.

I received both Doctoral and Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the American College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Houston, Texas.  I graduated with honors from all programs. During my studies, I supervised interns and broke a record having treated over 1,000 patients.  I conducted a systematic review of the effectiveness of acupuncture on the treatment of hypertension in middle-aged adults. I also trained for one month in Tianjin China and two weeks in Seoul South Korea, visiting five cities and hospitals and two private clinics during my stay.

I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I also served on the front lines in Desert Storm, the Persian Gulf War. I have a 1st degree black belt in Ji do Kwan Tae Kwon Do and 4th degree black belt in Jin Jung Kwan Hapkido.

Hapkido, the martial art I love and practice, is where my eyes were opened to acupuncture and herbal medicine. While waiting to be accepted into someone’s grad program for physician assistance, I opened up a Hapkido book where I found a chapter that discussed the philosophy of martial arts. It said the moral code of martial artists is when this warrior learns how to hurt (break, maim and kill), they must also learn how to treat and heal. It went on to say when a martial artist advances in rank to a certain level, they then learn more on the health and medicinal aspects of the art. Having already been active in the martial arts all of my life, when I read this I was sold!

This journey has truly been a blessing! Now I want to help others live a life of wellness.  I treat a wide array of conditions, but specialize in sports or traumatic injuries, hypertension, pain and addiction at Holgistic.

Thanks,
